Why Engtech?

Engtech offer a "free", no obligation desktop review of your brief or project, irrespective of whether it relates to the storage of a new or existing dangerous goods depot, or an incident.

Above all, our general engineering expertise and specialist knowledge gives Engtech the edge over other consultants when it comes to providing project solutions to incorporate any aspect of the storage and handling of dangerous goods. Although Engtech is based in Perth, Western Australia, we have staff frequently traveling into regional areas, often allowing for shared mobilisation efficiencies for site inspections and client meetings.

Hazardous Substances or Dangerous Goods?

The difference between hazardous substances and dangerous goods can often be confused by people, which can result in the two terms being used interchangeably.

Whilst papers have been written on understanding the differences, hazardous chemicals are generally defined in terms of their direct impacts on people's health, whereas dangerous goods are defined by their physical and chemical properties.

Storage and Handling

The potential consequences resulting from the incorrect storage and handling of dangerous goods can range very significantly. These may include immediate injury or loss of life from an explosion, to health impacts resulting from long term exposure that may not be immediately obvious.

When there is a need to increase, modify, or add new dangerous goods systems to a site, it's always best to engage a specialist DG consultant during the design stage of a project. This enables the design to be checked for compliance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations, allowing adjustments to be made before further costs are incurred.
